The two main types of central heating system we work with are wet systems and dry systems. A wet system is the kind most commonly found in homes throughout the UK. This works by pushing hot water (heated by a gas boiler) through pipes that lead directly to radiators, allowing them to warm up and distribute heat throughout the room. A dry system (sometimes referred to as a warm air system) is less frequently found in homes (though commonly found in office buildings or commercial properties).  This works by warming air in a heat exchanger and then blowing it into rooms via vents in the wall. This type of system is sometimes found in older properties that have been converted into dwellings (i.e. former shops or doctor’s surgeries) or in large multiple occupancy residences, such as student houses.

Once you’ve identified the system that’s compatible with your boiler and best suits your needs, it’s time to decide on the placement of your boiler and radiators. You will also need to take into account whether you’ll require a cold-water tank or a hot water cylinder. Our team of expert heating engineers handle this process from start to finish.
